The Federal Government recently announced its HomeBuilder stimulus program, in support of the construction industry and prospective new homebuyers. From 4 June until 31 December 2020, the HomeBuilder scheme will provide eligible home buyers with a $25,000 grant to put towards the purchase of a brand new home.
For eligible first home buyers, the $10,000 First HomeBuyer Grant may also be on offer – presenting a potential saving of $35,000!
Some of the eligibility criteria for the HomeBuilder incentive is set out as follows -
- Purchaser must be an Australian citizen aged over 18 years.
- Purchaser must enter into a contract to build a new home (up to the value of $750,000 – including house and land) as their principal place of residence.
- Build contract must be signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020.
- Construction must commence within three months of contract date.
- Purchaser/s must earn taxable income of under $125,000 per year as an individual or a combined taxable income of less than $200,000 per year for couples.
